Ocado Erith Automated Warehouse

The project consisted of construction of a new single envelope warehouse under a D&B shell contract with a developer to provide a new automated and temperature controlled customer fulfilment centre for an internet based food and non food retailer MPL staff operated both for the developer as well as one division acting as clients representative during the base build.

The detailed design and site monitoring of the fit out contract was carried out completely by MPL staff across all disciplines It involved the insertion of three levels of mezzanine utilising almost 3000 tonnes of steel with timber and concrete decks within the building The building operated with three separate chambers, all with different temperature regimes.

Extensive yards were constructed as well as a wide range of operational support facilities to provide a resilient facility that grow with the clients expansion plans Close integration with the MHE designers and suppliers was required at all stages given the interdependency of the building structure and fabric with the MHE operations.
